NEW HIRE WELCOME CELEBRATION INFORMATION COMING SOON!!

South Carolina Teaching Standards 4.0 One-Day Training

As part of the Expanded ADEPT system, South Carolina Teaching Standards (SCTS) 4.0 is South Carolina’s primary formal evaluation model for classroom-based teachers. The SCTS 4.0 rubric is based on sets of performance standards designed and validated by the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET) and establishes the expectations for what classroom-based teachers are to know, be able to do, and carry out as an integral part of their practice. These expectations, called the SCTS Indicators, are the foundation for good teaching and are designed to grow classroom-based teachers throughout their career continuum, beginning with teacher preparation and continuing through Induction, summative performance evaluations, and ongoing professional growth and development. A classroom-based teacher’s proficiency in each of the standards is expected to occur developmentally and to increase continuously throughout the entirety of the teaching career.

South Carolina requires all teachers to participate in the SCTS 4.0 Rubric One-day Training. Thissession will be included in day 2 of Induction Orientation; therefore, induction teachers will not have to sign up for a separate SCTS 4.0 Rubric Training. All other classroom-based teachers will need to sign up for a session.

*Please review the attached rubric prior to the training. o SCTS 4.0 Rubric

If you are transferring to DD2 from another SC district and have already participated in this training, please complete the attached form and provide verification of the training to Sharon Kerley at skerley@dorchester2.k12.sc.us. *SCTS 4.0 One-Day Training 2024

Parking

There is road construction going on near the district office (Berlin G. Meyers) that may cause some traffic delays and changes this summer. E. Richland will be closed this summer due to construction of the new intersection. In addition to some parking at the district office there is also a larger Parking lot behind Summerville Elementary (enter via S. Magnolia St/John McKissick Way) located between the SHS Football Stadium and Stadium Circle. There is a sidewalk that will take you to the district. The same parking lot is used for the Marcia O’Brien Field House training room (green building). Please do not park along the streets.
